Sunset at Nine Standards Rigg on Hartley Fell, above the Eden Valley in the Cumbrian Pennines.

There is some mystery as to the origin of these structures. One theory suggests they were built by the Romans to look like guards from a distance, hence them being called ‘the Stone Men’.
