A592 Glenridding Road passes under autumnal Stybarrow Crag

Stybarrow Crag and the Glenridding road

The main Ullswater road to Glenridding as it passes under Stybarrow Crag, taken just after dawn on a cloudy autumn morning.

You can be sure that you’re close to Glenridding when, having driven round Glencoyne Bay, the A592 rises and passes underneath the big rocky buttress of Stybarrow Crag. After passing here all that’s left is the last downhill stretch before reaching Glenridding, a very popular starting point for many fell walks in the area, not least of which is Helvellyn.
