derelict mine building on Loss Gill Bank Wharfedale

Loss Gill Bank mine

The ruined mine building at Loss Gill Bank near the head of Hebden Gill.

Grassington Moor, of which this is part, was heavily mined for lead ore in the 18th and 19th centuries. As a result the moor is heavily scarred and is scattered with the remains of old, disused mine workings.
