Angle Tarn above Patterdale during cloudy dawn

Angle Tarn above Patterdale at dawn

Angle Tarn above Patterdale is a very popular Lake District wild camping spot and one I have been meaning to camp at for some time. Unfortunately, despite a good forecast, the night I picked to stay there turned out to be pretty nasty.

When I peeked out of my tent just before dawn the following day I was greeted by nothing but cloud but while packing up there was a very brief gap in the clouds during which I managed to grab this photograph looking across the tarn towards the ridges of St. Sunday Crag and Birkhouse Moor.
