wooden footbridge over Birker Beck in Eskdale autumn

Birker Beck footbridge

Birker Beck flows down the northern flanks of Birker Fell into Eskdale where it joins the River Esk. On its journey the river flows through a Jurassic-like ravine which it shares with a footpath.

A short walk up the path leads to the waterfall of Stanley Ghyll Force, zig-zagging its way across a series of footbridges.
