Bradeham Dale hawthorn trees

An line of hawthorn trees in Bradeham Dale in summer. Its odd how these trees are all roughly the same height despite growing on a slope.

Hawthorne trees are one of the few species of trees to prosper in the dales of the Wolds. Most tree species find the chalky soil holds too little water for them to grow but hawthorns are well suited for such conditions.
