broadslack gill and the allerdale ramble path pass behind castle crags scree in winter

Broadslack Gill valley

Broadslack Gill is the stream separating Castle Crag from High Spy, its parent fell. As Broadslack Gill winds way downhill to its confluence with the River Derwent it is accompanied by the Allerdale Ramble path. Also leading off to the right is the paved path to the nearby summit of Castle Crag.

The overcast conditions have produced a photo with relatively low contrast but have also emphasized the rich winter colours.
