Brougham Castle on the River Eamont
There have been fortifications on the site of Brougham Castle since Roman times, however the current ruins date from the 13th Century. Two of the remaining buildings are visible in the photo: the keep and the gatehouse, seen here on the left and right respectively.
The picture was taken from the old bridge over the River Eamont at dawn.
