The view from a derelict mining hut above Eskdale in summer, looking out over the patchwork of fields on the valley floor below.
Mining for iron ore in Eskdale reached a peak in the middle of the nineteenth century during which time many such buildings like this were in use in the valley. As the industry waned they all fell into disrepair and became derelict though.
