wintry sand hill summit on ridge separating valleys of hole gill and coledale covered in ice and snow viewed from acsent of grisdale pike

Footpath over Sand Hill

Looking back towards Sand Hill from the ascent of neighbouring Grisedale Pike.

Sand Hill is a bump in the ridge between Hopegill Head and Grisedale Pike that most people will just walk past with barely a pause. I didn’t hang around long to take this either, partly due to the cold that was made worse by the strong winds. Also the sun was setting and I still had to make it over Grisedale Pike and back down to Braithwaite safely.
