rain and dark moody skies over grains valley and borrowdale

Grains Valley storm

The path up the Grains Valley is the quickest way from Borrowdale to Esk Hause and the big Lake District fells beyond. It is also the quickest way back down after a wet night’s camping in the fells. This was the most I saw of the sun on this camping trip at Styhead Tarn.

Borrowdale can be just about be made out below with the distinctively shaped peak of Castle Crag beyond.
