memorial cairn on great carrs marking site of crashed halifax bomber with long distance view of dow crags at sunset

Great Carrs memorial

The memorial on the slopes of Great Carrs marking the site where Halifax bomber LL503 crashed in 1944 while on a training flight killing all eight on board. The names of the crew are inscribed on a plaque on the cairn along with a few twisted bit from the plane.

All in all, a poignant place from which to watch an atmospheric winter sunset from.
