High Spy summit sunset panorama

A panoramic view from the distinctive summit cairn on High Spy.

Its unclear why High Spy was given such a name. It might have been the site of an ancient lookout post but any remains of it are long gone. Even so the fells’ rocky summit plateau does give expansive views over the Derwent Valley so the name is definitely apt.
