pattern of freshly ploughed furrows near huggate in spring

Huggate furrows

While walking near the village of Huggate in the Yorkshire Wolds I was fortunate to pass this field soon after the farmer had ploughed it. The furrows flowing over the undulating field caught my eye and I managed to capture this photo of the waves.

The chalk rich, well drained soil of the Wolds is very fertile. As a result the expansive hill tops, or wolds, are a patchwork of huge arable fields.
