iron howe burial mound on cow ridge amidst purple heather in flower panorama above bilsdale during august sunset

Iron Howe on Cow Ridge panorama

Iron Howe is a prominent cairn on Cow Ridge on the western side of Bilsdale Moor. The cairn looks fairly innocuous but it actually marks the site of a Viking burial mound.

The 360 degree views from here are impressive. To the west Snilesworth Moor and Whorlton Moor can be seen while to the east the ridge of Bilsdale Moor dominates. The view in the photo is looking north along the edge of the Arns Gill valley.
