Loweswater from Mellbreak

Loweswater and Loweswater Fell from Mellbreak in summer

Loweswater from Mellbreak background

The top of Mellbreak consists of two summits connected by a ridge. This is the view from the northern (and higher) summit looking north-west over Loweswater which is bounded by Burnbank Fell and Loweswater Fell. As Mellbreak is on the western fringes of the Lakes, the view also takes in the Solway Firth and south-west Scotland.

The climb up Mellbreak from Loweswater village via White Crag is highly recommended. The return leg along the quiet valley of Mosedale completes a great short walk in the Lakes.
