Pavey Ark at dawn, seen from the shore of Stickle Tarn above Langdale.
Dawn photography shoots in winter have the advantage of allowing for relatively late starts. But before dawn it is also dark. Very dark.
On this morning I had intended to get to Harrison Stickle for dawn but took a wrong turn so had to improvise. On arriving at Stickle Tarn I took this photograph, just as the sun appeared over the horizon and lit up the rock face of Pavey Ark.
I now know the correct route to Harrison Stickle in the dark.
