River Greta walkway
There have been many failed attempts to reopen the Lake District railway that used to run from Keswick to Penrith so for now the stretch from Keswick to Threlkeld remains part of the National Cycle Network.
This stretch near Keswick runs along a raised wooden walkway above the River Greta gorge and in autumn its a great place to walk. Or at least it was before Storm Desmond struck in 2015!
