The view towards the central fells from the cairn near the summit of Souther Fell at dawn.
Having climbed from the nearby village of Mungrisedale in the dark, I arrived at the summit of nearby Souther Fell in good time for dawn. Given the angle of the rising sun, I judged this the best view: looking over Mousthwaite Col, past Clough Head towards the distant central fells surrounding Scafell Pike.
