Thirlmere Reservoir sunset

Thanks to its location at the head of Wythburndale Steel Fell has some of the best views of Thirlmere Reservoir. By starting the climb from the top of Dunmail Raise its also very easy to get to the summit.

This photo was taken at sunset while descending Steel Fell’s northern slopes. Thirlmere snaking down the Wythburn valley towards the northern fells on the horizon: Lonscale Fell, Great Calva and Blencathra.
