shafts of light in Valley of Desolation woodland

Valley of Desolation woodland

Valley of Desolation woodland track near Bolton Abbey in Wharfedale, taken as shafts of light shine through the canopy.

‘Valley of Desolation’ might seem a bit of a strong name for such a peaceful place but it was named as such after a great storm in 1826 that devastated the area. Nature has long since repaired the damage though.
