warnscale bothy view of buttermere and crummock water in almospheric red evening light as sun sets behind mellbreak

Warnscale Bothy sunset

A view of the Buttermere Valley from Warnscale Bothy, taken on a summer’s evening as the sun sank behind Mellbreak.

Warnscale Bothy, one of a number of bothies in the Lake District, is not the easiest to find as it is off the main path and is built out of the local slate. I have described how to find it in my blog entry about a visit to Warnscale Bothy. Its definitely worth hunting out if only for the view of Buttermere Lake and Crummock Water.
