prehistoric low longrigg stone circle on white moss with sca fell in background under dark foreboding sky at sunset

White Moss stone circle

There are three stone circles on White Moss, the moorland on the ridge between Miterdale And Eskdale. The one on Brat’s Hill consists of forty two stones and there are two smaller ones nearby on Brat’s Moss. All three date from the Bronze Age.

While taking a break near one of the smaller circles the setting sun broke through the cloud illuminating the scene while Sca Fell on the skyline was still deep in shadow.
