Wensleydale is named after Wensley, once the main market town in the valley but now a small picturesque village. Unusually for the Dales the valley isn’t named after the main river which flows through it – the River Ure.
Famous for its eponymous cheese, Wensleydale also has some fine meadows, moorland and waterfalls to explore.
