A hawthorn tree clings to the side of a wintery Bannerdale valley.

This day out in the fells started so promisingly but by the time I had climbed from Martindale up to Angletarn Pikes a blizzard had produced a total white-out. This tree was stubbornly clinging to the side of Bannerdale valley, possibly aware of what was on its way.
